Thursday we were able to go to the FSM-17 space shuttle reusable solid rocket motor static test and it was so cool! Micah works out at ATK so when he came home with the news about a test fire and a flyer in hand, I knew he really wanted us to go. It was cool to see him at the place where he works and it was fun to have him be able to come out and watch it with us. I thought for sure they would shut the plant down for 30 minutes so everyone could come and enjoy the last test fire, but Micah's Dad had to stay indoors and work.
Last time they had a test it kept getting delayed and they eventually called it off so I was ready with lots of treats and games to keep MaKayla entertained, but to my surprise everything was right on schedule. Isn't that the coolest firework you have ever seen? :)
We had a pretty sweet spot to sit and watch, but we did have a stand and flag pole that didn't make for the best pictures, but we tried.
MaKayla was having a great time playing outside and seeing all the people, but when the rocket went off the noise scared her a little bit. I thought she was going to crawl right into Micah's jacket with him. At the same time she was pretty impressed with the light and smoke that flew out the back end that she couldn't help but peek a few times.Every time she sees this picture she says, "Kayla skeered, huh?"
When the light show was over we were able to stop and see Grandpa Craig, and get a picture of him in his cool blue coat. As you can see MaKayla quickly recovered from the rocket blast. :)
It was a great day and we had a good time spending the afternoon with the family.
Wish I could have come! :( Thanks for stopping and seeing me though! Made my day to get kisses from MaKayla! :)
