Zoo Day, Hooray!

We finally made it to Hogle Zoo.  The kids loved it!  MaKayla was loving all of the picture opportunities. They had the Lego sculptures out and MaKayla loved finding them and looking them up in her Lego booklet.
We got to see the new baby elephant.  We were watching them play and MaKayla kept asking where the baby was, she thought he was too big to be a baby.
We saw the new baby giraffe too.  MaKayla thought it made more sense that he was the baby because there were three other larger giraffes with him.
When we got to the polar bear he was so playful with the kids.  He would swim right up to the window and bob up and down and then do a back stroke back to a rock.  James was so excited and even let out an excited "WOW!"  These are Kayla's hands on a polar bear paw, grizzly bear paw and black bear paw.
James was cracking us up with his map.  He walked around with it in hand to every animal and then would spread it out on the glass like he was showing them where they were on it.  As we would walk from animal to animal he would sing, "I the map, I the map, I the map".
The kids loved the carousel.  They rode it three times and had a fabulous time.
Kayla had been talking about the carousel the entire way to the Zoo. I'm glad she didn't remember the train because it was under construction.
James was a little hesitant to get his picture taken with the big bronze gorilla, he thought it was real.  The red ape is made entirely out of Legos.  It was pretty cool looking.
We had such a great time.  When they were all done Daddy let them each pick a surprise from the gift shop.  MaKayla got a pink elephant that she calls Pinky, and James got a tiger bubble gun.  On the way out to the car she was snuggling her elephant and telling her, "You get to sleep with me tonight."  Pretty soon we're going to have to buy her a bigger bed for her and all of her stuffed friends.
